SA: Vechicle sales tumble in July

New figures show vehicle sales fell three per cent in July but the market remains on
track for a record year.

The federal Chamber of Automotive Industries says 77,035 new cars and trucks were sold
last month, down 3.1 per cent on the 79,521 sold in July 2003.

On a year-to-date basis the market remains 5.3 per cent ahead at 550,551 and still
on track to reach 960,000 units over the full 12 months.

Toyota was the top-selling company last month with 16,199 vehicles ahead of Holden
on 14,040 and Ford on 11,551.
