I-Berhad, plans to expand its share of the smart home marketextensively over the next few months. Its executive director Monica Ongsays the company is working on plans to package the i-Home system to consumersin a far more creative and accessible way. Todate, I-Berhad has two outletsin the Klang valley which offers a complete all-in-one i-Home system towalk- in customers. 'This will give consumers levels of convenience andpeace of mind that were previously unattainable. The two outlets alreadyopened are located in IOI Mall in Puchong and Mid Valley Megamall in KualaLumpur. Another three will be opened in March in Desa Sri Hartamas, USJ SubangJaya and Shah Alam. I-Berhad's current activities include the manufacture and sale ofcomputers and intelligent appliances as well as the retailing of smarthome products through its i-Home outlets. i-Home was set up as an importantlink in the introduction of the smart home to Malaysians - where all theappliances at home are inter-connected, linked to the Internet and controlledby the personal computer and other handheld devices at home. i-Home is a center for the digital future and is a chain of retailoutlets showcasing the latest `intelligent' products and to also serveas a sales support center. It is also a place where one can experiencehow the smart home works. Part of the i-Home plan is also aimed at developing a group ofentrepreneurs where they will be provided with skills on the operationsof a business and knowledge of IT.
