NSW: Traffic chaos as accident closes expressway

SYDNEY, Dec 16 AAP - Police were forced to close three lanes of the Sydney Harbour
Bridge this morning, creating traffic chaos during the peak period.

A police spokeswoman said lanes six, seven and eight were closed after an accident,
effectively shutting down the Cahill Expressway.

All southbound traffic through the harbour tunnel was also at a standstill, she said.

Police asked motorists to delay their trip to the city if possible.

An ambulance spokeswoman said a motorcyclist had been seriously injured in the accident,
in lane seven of the bridge, about 7.15am.
